Club Lloyds Platinum: what the packaged account includes

Club Lloyds Platinum is a packaged bank account with a monthly fee, worldwide family travel insurance, AA breakdown cover and mobile phone insurance. Here is what it includes, how the fee and its refund work, who can open one, what the insurance covers and where it stops, and how to switch.

Club Lloyds Platinum: what the packaged account includes, with the Lloyds logo

Club Lloyds Platinum is a packaged bank account from Lloyds Bank. You pay a monthly fee, and in return the account bundles worldwide family travel insurance, AA breakdown cover and mobile phone insurance with everyday banking. It sits above the plain Club Lloyds account and the Club Lloyds Silver account in the range, and it is one of several packaged accounts Lloyds offers1.

The fee is the part most people want to pin down first. Club Lloyds Platinum carries a monthly fee, and part of the arrangement is a Club Lloyds fee that is refunded in any month you pay in enough, or hold enough saved or invested with Lloyds. The exact figures change, so the provider's own page carries today's numbers3.

The insurance is the reason most people consider the account, and it is worth reading the limits before deciding. Travel cover runs to age 80, emergency medical cover is capped, and the mobile phone and travel policies are both changing from 1 December 2026. This page sets out what is included, what it costs in principle, who can open one, and how to switch.

What Club Lloyds Platinum includes

Club Lloyds Platinum is a packaged bank account, which means the monthly fee buys a bundle of insurance and benefits alongside the current account itself. The core of the package is Worldwide Family Travel Insurance up to age 80, AA Breakdown Family Cover with Roadside Assistance, At Home and National Recovery, and mobile phone insurance1.

On top of the insurance, the account carries the everyday features of a Lloyds current account: a Visa debit card, contactless payments up to £100, mobile and online banking, and the ability to switch in through the Current Account Switch Service.

The account also comes with a Lifestyle Benefit you choose each year. The options are 12 months of Disney+, 6 cinema tickets, an annual digital Coffee Club and Gourmet Society membership, or an annual magazine subscription, and you pick one per year per account1. Lloyds says the benefits could be worth over £133 a year on the Club Lloyds account, and the Lifestyle Benefits are administered on behalf of Lloyds Bank4.

Packaged accounts of this kind sit alongside the rest of the Lloyds range, which includes the free Club Lloyds account, the Club Lloyds Silver account and the Lloyds Premier account3. If you are weighing up whether a bundle is worth it against buying cover separately, the comparison is set out in packaged bank account or buying insurance separately.

How the monthly fees work and when part is refunded

The fee structure has two parts, and the second is the one that catches people out. There is the Platinum account fee itself, and there is a separate Club Lloyds fee.

That distinction matters. The refund is not automatic and it is not a discount on the Platinum fee itself. It is a refund of the Club Lloyds element, triggered by your paying-in or your savings and investments balance. If you do not meet the threshold in a given month, you pay the Club Lloyds fee for that month3.

Because the figures change, the provider's own page carries today's numbers, and it is worth checking the current position before you apply.

Travel insurance: what is covered and the limits that apply

The travel insurance on Club Lloyds Platinum is Worldwide Family Travel Insurance up to age 801. Personal accident cover is listed at up to £30,000 on the Platinum account5.

The cover is family cover, and it is worldwide rather than European, which is the main difference from the Club Lloyds Silver account. Silver provides European and UK Family Travel Insurance up to age 65, with emergency medical cover up to £10,000,000, travel disruption cover up to £5,000, baggage cover up to £2,500 (of which £500 is for valuables) and personal accident cover up to £30,0006.

There are conditions attached to the travel cover. It is only available to UK residents who are registered with a doctor in the UK and who start and end their trips in the UK, with the UK including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man6. All cover stops on your 80th birthday1.

One Lloyds page lists baggage cover at up to £2,500 with £500 for valuables, while another lists personal accident cover at up to £30,000 and a separate figure of up to £5,0006. Both figures are given here, and the policy wording that comes with your account is the version that applies.

The policy schedule that comes with the account sets out each cover limit and the conditions attached to it.

AA breakdown and mobile phone cover

The breakdown cover is AA Breakdown Family Cover with Roadside Assistance, At Home and National Recovery, provided by the AA1. The service is only available in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man6.

There are exclusions worth knowing. There is no cover when travelling in a car, van, minibus or motorcycle exceeding the weight restriction of 3.5 tonnes and 8ft 3in (2.55m) width, for business or commercial vehicles, or for road traffic accidents where the AA will not recover the vehicle6. The AA also notes that call-out levels may affect future premiums7.

The mobile phone insurance is administered on behalf of Lloyds, with a single insurance provider, Assurant General Insurance Limited1. From 1 December 2026 there will be changes to the mobile phone insurance provided through Lifestyle Services Group, covering policy cover and terms and conditions, and a Guide to Changes is provided during the application process8.

The same 1 December 2026 date applies across the range. Bank of Scotland states that from 1st December 2026 there will be some changes to the insurance cover that comes with the Platinum account9. Lloyds is changing the travel insurance and mobile phone insurance policy cover and terms and conditions that come with the Platinum account, and customers must read the Guide to Changes during application5.

Everyday banking extras: interest, cashback and lifestyle benefits

The Club Lloyds Platinum account carries the same everyday features as the rest of the Lloyds range, with a few additions. You can pay a cheque of up to £10,000 into the account by taking a photo of it in the mobile app4.

On the Club Lloyds account, credit interest is paid if you meet the direct debit condition, and it is paid into the account usually by the second working day of the following calendar month4. The same timing applies to the Club Lloyds Silver account6.

The Lifestyle Benefit is the visible extra. You choose one per year per account from 12 months of Disney+, 6 cinema tickets, an annual digital Coffee Club and Gourmet Society membership, or an annual magazine subscription1. Lloyds says the benefits could be worth over £133 a year, and they are administered on behalf of Lloyds Bank4.

There is also a monthly prize draw on the Platinum account: a £2,026 monthly payday prize draw, which requires activation and £1,000 or more paid in each month5. Travel money is another extra: Club Lloyds, Platinum, Silver and Lloyds Premier account holders receive preferential rates, and delivery is free on orders over £500, with orders placed by 3pm for next working day delivery10.

Overdrafts on a Club Lloyds Platinum account

The overdraft on Club Lloyds Platinum has one feature that stands out: there is no unarranged overdraft interest, fees or charges1. The same applies to the Club Lloyds account and the Club Lloyds Silver account4.

That is an illustration of how the charge is worked out, not a rate, and the provider's own page carries today's figures.

All overdrafts are subject to application and repayable on demand, and you must be 18 or over to apply4. That means the bank can ask for the money back, and the overdraft is not a fixed-term loan. If you are comparing an overdraft with other ways of borrowing, the trade-offs are set out in overdraft or personal loan, and the rules on repeat use are explained in overdraft repeat use rules.

If you are struggling with an overdraft, there is free and impartial help. Struggling to repay an overdraft sets out the options, and the Debt: a complete guide to help, solutions and your rights covers the routes available.

Changes to the insurance cover from December

The insurance that comes with Club Lloyds Platinum is changing on 1 December 2026. The travel insurance provided through Allianz Assistance and the mobile phone insurance provided through Lifestyle Services Group will change policy cover and terms and conditions1. Lloyds says customers must read the Guide to Changes during application5.

The same date applies to the Platinum account and to the Club Lloyds Silver account. Bank of Scotland states that from 1st December 2026 there will be some changes to the insurance cover that comes with the Platinum account9. For the Club Lloyds Silver account, the travel insurance and mobile phone insurance policies provided with the account will change, with changes to policy cover and terms and conditions6.

What this means in practice is that the cover described on this page is the cover as it stands now, and the version you get depends on when you open the account. If you open before 1 December 2026, you get the current cover; if you open on or after that date, you get the new version. The Guide to Changes is the document that sets out the difference, and it is provided during the application process5.

Opening or switching to Club Lloyds Platinum

You need to be 18 or over and a UK resident, and account opening is subject to status1. The same age and residency rules apply to the overdraft, which is also subject to application and repayable on demand4. If you want a Club Lloyds mortgage, you must have a Club Lloyds current account open before you take out the mortgage, and that includes the Club Silver and Club Platinum accounts11.

Switching is done through the Current Account Switch Service, and Lloyds says the switch takes just 7 working days5. Accounts must be opened between 17 September 2026 and 09 December 2026, and the switch must be started by 09 December 202612.

The offer ends on 09 December 20261. It applies across the qualifying range, including Club Lloyds, Club Lloyds Silver, Club Lloyds Platinum and Premier accounts12. The mechanics of how these offers work, including what counts and what does not, are set out in how bank switching offers work, and the switch process itself is explained in the Current Account Switch Service.

If you are already a Lloyds customer, upgrading is a separate process from switching, and it is set out on the provider's upgrade page13. If you are moving from another bank, the switch service moves your balance, your direct debits and your standing orders, and redirects payments to your old account for a period.

The switch moves your payments across and closes the old account, with payments redirected for a period afterwards.

Protection, complaints and where to get help

On complaints, packaged bank accounts have a history of mis-selling claims. Which? has reported on Lloyds packaged bank account mis-selling complaints, and the account type in question was described as one that offered travel insurance and breakdown cover19. If you think you were mis-sold a packaged account, the Financial Ombudsman Service is free and independent, and MoneyHelper offers free and impartial guidance on money matters.

Money held across Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland and the other brands under the same authorisation counts towards the same limit16.

Frequently asked questions

Who can open a Club Lloyds Platinum account?

You need to be 18 or over and a UK resident, and account opening is subject to status. The same age and residency rules apply to the overdraft, which is also subject to application and repayable on demand. If you want a Club Lloyds mortgage, you must already have a Club Lloyds current account open before you take the mortgage out, and that includes the Club Silver and Club Platinum accounts.

Can I use my Club Lloyds Platinum debit card abroad without fees from Lloyds?

Lloyds does not charge its own debit card fees on transactions or withdrawals at home or abroad on Club, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Premier, Student and Graduate debit cards. That covers spending in a foreign currency and cash machine withdrawals. An overseas provider, such as a foreign cash machine operator, may still charge you, and you can be charged if you choose to pay in pounds sterling overseas.

Which direct debits count towards earning interest on Club Lloyds?

You need to pay at least two separate direct debits from the Club Lloyds current account each calendar month. They must be monthly direct debits: quarterly direct debits and standing orders do not qualify. If you earn the credit interest, it is paid into the account usually by the second working day of the following calendar month.

Who provides the insurance that comes with Club Lloyds Platinum?

The worldwide multi-trip travel insurance is administered by AWP Assistance UK Ltd (Allianz Assistance) and underwritten by AWP P&C SA. The mobile phone insurance is administered by Lifestyle Services Group Limited, with a single insurance provider, Assurant General Insurance Limited. The AA Breakdown Family Cover is provided by Automobile Association Developments Limited, trading as AA Breakdown Services.

Is money in a Club Lloyds Platinum account protected by the FSCS?

Yes. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme protects up to £120,000 of the eligible money you hold with Lloyds. All Lloyds savings accounts, current accounts and ISAs are covered by the FSCS. The limit applies across the brands that share the licence, so money held in other brands under the same authorisation counts towards the same £120,000.

How much cash can I take out each day with a Club Lloyds debit card?

You can withdraw up to £800 a day from a Lloyds cashpoint or other cash machines. That is higher than the £500 a day that applies to a standard Lloyds Bank debit card at cash machines, though more can be taken in branch. You can also get up to £50 cashback per transaction at most UK supermarket check-outs.

Is the Club Lloyds Platinum switching offer still open?

The £200 switching offer ends on 09 December 2026. To qualify you must switch to a new qualifying account using the Current Account Switch Service and switch at least three active direct debits. Accounts must be opened between 17 September 2026 and 09 December 2026, and the switch must be started by 09 December 2026.
