Quotemehappy Connect is a car insurance policy that watches how you drive. A small device sticks to the windscreen of your car and pairs with an app on your phone; the app records each journey and gives you a driver rating every seven days. Quotemehappy describes the cover as giving you a personalised renewal price and regular rewards for driving safely1.
The app is not optional. It is a requirement of the policy, and you have to activate it, pair the device and complete trips within the first 14 days of cover starting1. If you do not register, or trips are not being recorded, Quotemehappy says it will send alerts and reminders2.
The policy is sold by Quotemehappy, which is a member of the Aviva family1. It is aimed at drivers who are comfortable with an app-based policy and who want their driving behaviour to feed into what they pay at renewal. The provider's own site carries today's prices and any current offers.
What Quotemehappy Connect is and who it suits
This is telematics car insurance, sometimes called black box or app-based cover. Rather than pricing only on who you are and what you drive, the insurer collects information about how you actually drive and uses it. Quotemehappy's own description is that the cover gives a personalised renewal price and regular rewards for driving safely1.
That structure suits a driver who keeps a phone charged and in the car, who is willing to have a device fixed to the windscreen, and who expects to stay with the same insurer long enough for the renewal price to matter. It suits less well anyone who wants a policy they can set up and forget, or who shares a car in ways the app cannot easily attribute to one driver.
The app is not a passive record. Checking it regularly keeps you in touch with your driver rating and provides personalised feedback on how you can develop safer driving habits2. In other words, the policy expects some engagement from you during the year, not just at renewal.
Because the rating is based on data the app collects, the quality of that data matters. The device exists to tell the app when a journey has started and ended, so the app can measure the drive1. If the device is not paired, or the app is not running, the trips are not recorded, and Quotemehappy's alerts are designed to flag exactly that2.
How the app and the windscreen device work
Setup has three parts: activate the app, pair it to the device, and complete trips, all inside the first 14 days1. The device is small and sticks to the windscreen; once paired, Quotemehappy says it quietly runs in the background1.
The app measures four behaviours: speed, smoothness, usage and distracted driving1. Usage covers how much and when the car is driven; distracted driving picks up phone handling behind the wheel. Every seven days you get a new driver rating, based on the information collected each time you drive1.
The practical consequence is that the policy depends on a working phone and a working pairing. A phone that is left at home, a device that comes unstuck, or an app that has been closed will all interrupt the record. Quotemehappy's reminders exist because gaps in the data are a known problem, not a rare one2.
How the fees and charges work
Quotemehappy Connect is priced individually, and the provider's site carries today's figures. What can be set out here is how the charges are structured rather than what they are.
The premium is not fixed for the year in the way a conventional policy is. The cover gives a personalised renewal price, which means the driving data collected during the year feeds into what you are offered next time1. Changes to the policy during the year may also affect the premium: Quotemehappy states that changes to your policy may affect your premium, both when you change your usage4 and when you add or change a driver3.
Cancellation charges follow the usual pattern for motor cover. Cancel before the policy start date and you receive a full refund5. Cancel within 14 days of the policy start date, or of the date you receive the policy documentation if that is later, and a proportionate deduction is made for the time you have been covered5.
Two payment quirks are worth knowing. Quotemehappy says changes to how some payments are processed mean a refund may not be able to be sent to the original payment card or account on record6. And a payment may still be collected after you cancel, because the payment may already be in process when the policy is cancelled6. You can change the account or card you use to make a payment6.
Who can be insured and how to apply
Eligibility is set by driver, not by car. Every driver on the policy must be aged between 21 and 75 from the start of the policy term, and a driver who has only recently turned 21 can only be added from the next renewal date onwards3. Each driver must hold a valid UK or EU licence and be a resident of Great Britain, which excludes Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands3.
Claims history is also a condition. Drivers must have had no more than one at fault claim and two convictions in the last five years3. Temporary driver cover is not offered, so there is no way to add someone for a weekend3.
Cover level matters as much as eligibility. Social, domestic and pleasure use covers normal everyday driving such as visiting friends and family, going to the shops or picking children up from school, but it does not include commuting to work4. Commuting cover adds driving to and from your permanent place of work each day, and Quotemehappy counts leaving the car at the train station while you go to work, and taking a passenger to and from their workplace, as commuting4.
Business use is a further step. You need it if you or your spouse or partner has to use the insured car for driving to different business sites or attending prearranged meetings away from your normal place of work4. It does not cover commercial uses such as taxi work, courier activity or delivering pizza4.
To change usage or add a driver, you go to the My policies section on Quotemehappy.com, find the policy and select Change policy4. Adding a driver uses the Add driver option in the same area3.
Renewals, no claim discount and leaving
Quotemehappy sends its renewal invitation 28 days before the renewal date7. That email also tells you whether your policy is set to renew automatically, so it is worth reading rather than filing7.
If you do not want to renew and your policy renews automatically, you need to cancel the renewal before your renewal date7. For policies that do not renew automatically, the cover expires at 23:59 the day before the renewal date7.
Your no claim discount travels with you. The renewal invitation can be used as proof of no claim discount when you move to another insurer8. Once the policy has been cancelled or has lapsed, you can download a copy through My account, and it is emailed shortly after cancellation8. Quotemehappy cannot send proof while the policy is still active, so the existing policy or the renewal has to be cancelled first8.
If you are switching to Quotemehappy rather than away from it, the proof you supply has to meet its rules. It accepts a renewal invitation or a proof of no claim discount letter only, clearly displaying your no claim discount years on headed paper9. The discount must come from a policy that expired within the last 24 months, must have been earned on a private car rather than a company car, classic car, motorcycle or van, and can only be used on one vehicle at a time9. The document must show your car registration number, your postcode and your previous insurer's name, and be in English9. If you cannot find it, you have to ask your previous insurer to resend it; Quotemehappy cannot do that for you9.
How your money is protected
Quotemehappy is a member of the Aviva family1. The authorised firm behind the brand is Aviva Life & Pensions UK Limited, which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority with firm reference number 185896, and appears on the Bank of England Prudential Regulation Authority list of insurers incorporated in the UK authorised to carry out contracts of insurance10. The company is active on the Companies House register under company number 03253947, incorporated on 18 September 199612.
That matters to a policyholder for one practical reason: you can check the firm on the FCA Register before you buy, and you can see which permissions it holds10. If an insurer fails, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme is the backstop for eligible claims, and there is a separate guide to what happens if your insurer goes bust.
Protection of a different kind applies to the driving data. The app records where and how you drive, and that information feeds your renewal price1. The policy terms set out how that data is used; the provider's site carries the current detail.
Problems, complaints and getting help
Start with Quotemehappy. If the issue is about a payment, the payments help page was last updated on 20 August 2026, and the cancellation guidance on the same date6. If it is about a change to the policy, the driver and usage pages set out the process4.
If you are not satisfied with the response, the next step is the Financial Ombudsman Service, which is free and independent. The Financial Ombudsman Service publishes case studies of the disputes it decides, including complaints about misquoting and misinformation, which is the kind of complaint that arises when a policy is priced on information that later turns out to be wrong13. There is a fuller guide to complaining about an insurer and the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Two things commonly go wrong with app-based policies, and both are worth knowing before you buy. The first is a gap in the driving record, which is why the 14 day activation window and the reminders exist1. The second is a mismatch between the cover level you selected and how you actually use the car, particularly commuting, which social, domestic and pleasure cover does not include4. There is a separate guide to business use and commuting on your car policy.
If you are unhappy with how a telematics policy has been scored or cancelled, the rules on black box policies: curfews, scores and cancellation set out where you stand. For the wider picture on how premiums are built, see how insurance premiums are worked out, and for the rules on renewal pricing, insurance pricing rules: the ban on price walking.
