Government confirms MoneyHelper dashboard will launch before private sector dashboards

The government has confirmed the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard will be made available to the public before private sector dashboards, with six months' notice promised before launch.

The government confirmed in a written statement in October 2024 that the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard will be made available to the public before private sector dashboards1. The MoneyHelper dashboard is being developed by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), an arms-length body of the Department for Work and Pensions2. A pensions dashboard is an online tool where people can access their pension information, showing pensions from different providers and the State Pension securely and in one place2. They are not available yet2.

At a pensions dashboards town hall hosted by MaPS on 9 July 2025, the Minister for Pensions, Torsten Bell MP, announced that DWP will give six months' notice before the launch of the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard1. The House of Commons Library states that the Money and Pensions Service expects the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard to be available in 2027/28, and that industry will receive six months' notice of the launch date2. As required by legislation, the Secretary of State will give six months' notice of the launch, known as the dashboards available point2.

Connection of pension providers and schemes to the dashboards ecosystem is under way. Under the Pensions Dashboards Regulations 2022 and requirements in the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Handbook, pension providers and schemes in scope of legislation are required to connect by 31 October 20261. The first participant connected in March 2025, and on 17 April 2025 the first pension provider finalised connection ahead of the first connect by date in guidance1. As of December 2025, 700 pension providers and schemes had completed connection, representing over 60 million workplace and personal pension records, or three-quarters of those in scope, and the State Pension has now connected, adding tens of millions of State Pension records1. Under DWP guidance, the next staging date for FCA regulated providers is 31 January 20261. The House of Commons Library reports that in July 2026 around 85% of pensions records were connected2.

Consumer testing of the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard is under way. MaPS began controlled testing with a small number of industry experts in August, and consumer testing takes place over two phases1. The first phase has passed the halfway point, with 24 users observed across the first two rounds1. MaPS has focused so far on testing with users who have defined contribution pensions and with their State Pension also being returned1. The date for when private sector dashboards will be available will be informed by factors including whether the service is safe, secure and reliable, monitored by DWP, MaPS and the regulators1.

Why it matters for households

The dashboard is intended to let people see their pensions from different providers and their State Pension in one place, which may help in finding lost pensions and understanding what has been built up ahead of accessing a pension. The MoneyHelper dashboard is expected before any private sector dashboards, so the first public version will be the government-backed service rather than a commercial one1. The six months' notice means the launch date will be signalled in advance1. Until launch, no dashboard is available to the public2.

What happens next

The next staging date for FCA regulated providers under DWP guidance is 31 January 20261. The statutory connection deadline for pension providers and schemes in scope is 31 October 20261. MaPS expects the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard to be available in 2027/28, with a further update on launch plans around the connection deadline at the end of October2. The date for private sector dashboards has not been reported1.
