The Department for Work and Pensions published its response to the Pensions Dashboards: further consultation on 17 October 20221. The consultation had run from 12:15am on 28 June 2022 to 11:30pm on 19 July 2022, and the department states that it has concluded1. The response document runs to 14 pages and is also available as a PDF1.
The consultation was the second of two public consultations on the draft Pensions Dashboards Regulations 20221. The first, published in January 2022, sought views on a range of policy questions relating to the creation of pensions dashboards and included an indicative draft of the Regulations showing how the policy was envisaged to be turned into law1. The further consultation covered two specific issues that were not included in the January consultation1:
Issue consulted on
---
The Dashboards Available Point (DAP)
Proposals to support the Disclosure of Information between the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) and The Pensions Regulator (TPR)
The consultation page states that it applies to England, Scotland and Wales1. It was published under the 2019 to 2022 Johnson Conservative government1.
"This consultation is the second of two public consultations on the draft Pensions Dashboards Regulations 2022."
The response document itself is listed on the consultation page as an HTML page and as a PDF of 362 KB1. The page notes that the PDF may not be suitable for users of assistive technology and gives an email address for requesting an accessible format1.
Why it matters for households
Pensions dashboards are intended to let people see their pension information in one place, and the Regulations set the legal framework for them. This response concerns two design questions rather than the launch of a service: when dashboards become available to the public, known as the Dashboards Available Point, and how information is disclosed between the Money and Pensions Service and The Pensions Regulator1. The consultation applied to England, Scotland and Wales1. The response document does not, on the consultation page, set out the decisions taken on either issue, and no dates for dashboards becoming available to savers are given there1. The page records only that the consultation has concluded and that the government response has been published1.
What happens next
The government response to the further consultation was published on 17 October 20221. No further steps are set out on the consultation page beyond the publication of that response1. The draft Pensions Dashboards Regulations 2022, which were the subject of both consultations, are covered in our pensions guide.
